The Israeli Supreme Court will hold a hearing regarding Palestinian hunger striking journalist Muhammed Al-Qeq’s detention on 25 February.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Authority said, in a statement issued yesterday:"After the Ofer military court rejected the appeal to stop the arrest of prisoner Al-Qeq, a petition was raised before the Israeli Supreme Court after both his life and health were in serious danger, as he is languishing in the Afula Israeli hospital.”

Head of the authority, Issa Qaraqe, described the date as "a faraway date that demonstrates the carelessness and casualness towards both the life and health of prisoner Al-Qeq as well as his fair and legitimate request to end his administrative arrest.”

There are legal efforts to bring the court date forward in light of Al-Qeq’s serious health condition, Qaraqe added.

Captive Mohammed Al-Qik, reporter of the Saudi Arabian TV satellite channel, Al-Mjed, in the West Bank, was arrested by the Israeli occupation forces after his house was attacked in the town of Abu-Qash , north of Ramallah, on 21 November 2015. He has been subject to administrative detention for 6 months after being interrogated for about a month in Al-Jalama military centre, one of the Israeli intelligence bodies, located north of occupied Palestine.
