The Head of the Hamas Political Bureau has asked the Secretary-General of the Arab League to take Israel to the International Criminal Court following its murderous attack on last Friday’s Great March of Return in Gaza.
A statement from the movement said that Ismail Haniyeh called Ahmed Abul Gheit to ask for a formal commission of inquiry into the killing of a number of peaceful protesters by soldiers of the Israel Defence Forces.
Haniyeh apparently downplayed the attempts to take the issue to the UN Security Council for a condemnation of the Israeli aggression, given that the US will, inevitably, veto such a resolution. The Hamas chief and Arab League official agreed to stay in contact and continue discussions of the latest developments in the Palestinian arena.
