Nearly 1898 Israeli settlers and police members stormed and desecrated Al-Aqsa mosque during August of 2016, mostly settlers and extremist Jewish groups, the Media Center for Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa affairs "Ciobrs" reported.

According to a statistical documentation prepared by "Ciobrs" center, the break-ins were distributed as follows: 1723 settlers, 84 members of intelligence, 19 of the occupation officers. In addition to 72 members of different names of the occupation government, including 35 of the staff and officials of the so-called Israeli Antiquities authority.

The peak of raids took place on Sunday 14.08.2016, on the anniversary of the so-called Tisha B'Av, where about 401 settlers broke into the Al-Aqsa Mosque. This day hit the highest level of daily break-ins.

On the other hand, Ciobrs has pointed out that August had witnessed a number of eye-catching break-ins carried out by at least 29 members of Israel Antiquities Authority staff and specialists. This number is considered to be big compared with the recent months and years.

The staff usually carry out wide and long tours in Al-Aqsa, and engineering survey using accurate engineering tools for the chapels and roofed buildings of Al-Aqsa mosque, especially the Dome of the rock.

Ciobrs center favored that these break-ins come as part of the Israeli occupation ongoing practices to prevent and impede the restoration and maintenance projects carried out by the Islamic Waqf in Jerusalem. Additionally they come as part of Israeli occupation's policies and attempts repeated to disarm the Islamic and Jordanian sovereignty of Al-Aqsa Mosque, in a blatant attempt to entirely control the whole compound of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli settlers' break-ins are carried out in a daily basis from Sunday and Thursday from the Maghriba Gate guarded by the Israeli occupation forces on the morning. Israeli settlers usually attempt to perform biblical and Talmudic Judaism rituals and prayers, that always confronted by the worshipers and guards of Al- Aqsa mosque.
