A solidarity meeting was held in Reykjavík´s down town theater last night, August 22nd 2016 for Bilal Kayed who is into the third month of his hunger strike. The meeting was also to show solidarity with the seven thousand Palestinian political prisoners including 350 children.
MP and former Minister Ögmundur Jónasson, who had just returned from a fact finding mission to Palestine, informed a packed meeting about his visit and discussions with Addameer and other human rights organizations in Ramallah and Nablus.
He explained the plight of Bilal Kayed and other Palestinian political prisoners and called for solidarity actions in their support. His appeal was well received. Concern was raised about Bilal´s endangered life, other hunger strikers and political prisoners.
