LONDON EVENT: LPHR: Prisoner Rights Issues in Israel and OPT

Amidst the recent upsurge in violence and the steep rise in the number of Palestinians arrested, detained and imprisoned since October 2015, LPHR will host a screening of Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli Jails, a short film by William Parry. This will be followed by a panel of distinguished legal experts from Israel and the occupied West Bank discussing prisoner rights issues including the marked increase in use of administrative detention and targeting of Palestinian human rights defenders.

Speakers:

 

Sahar Francis - General Director of Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, a human rights organisation which works on issues related to torture and ill-treatment, administrative detention, detention conditions and prisoners’ rights.

 

Dr. Rachel Stroumsa – Executive Director of Public Committee Against Torture Israel, an advocacy organisation working to protect people from torture and ill treatment by the Israeli interrogation and law enforcement authorities.
