DESCRIPTION
Join us for an evening to celebrate the wonderful culture of Palestine and the struggle of its people for their right to return, liberation and national self-determination.

We'll be welcoming to London a group of young musicians and dancers from the Lajee Center, a cultural arts youth centre in the heart of Aida Refugee Camp in Palestine.

Lajee’s young representatives will be performing Palestinian dabke dance, playing traditional Palestinian music, screening independent films and presenting talks on their life and work in Palestine. We'll also have some delicious Palestinian food to enjoy before the performances get underway.

Also on the billing for what is sure to be an incredible evening will be London-based dance troupe Hawiyya and we'll hear poetry from the inspiring Baraka Youth Association - a group of Somali young people living in North Kensington.

The event will also feature appearances from award-winning British-Iraqi rapper and political activist Lowkey and renowned Palestinian author and academic Karma Nabulsi. With other acts still to be announced we suggest snapping up your tickets quick as we expect this to be a sell out x

----------------------------------------------

Aida is located in Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank and is surrounded by Israel's apartheid wall. The residents of Aida, especially its young people, face daily incursions, arrests and shootings. This event will be a celebration of their resilience, their vibrant culture and their ongoing struggle for freedom.

This is the last leg of a UK and Ireland-wide tour that the group will be embarking on through the month of August so let's make sure we give the group the send-off they deserve.

TIckets are available from the link above priced at £10 for waged and £8 low wage/unwaged. A solidarity ticket is available for £20. All proceeds go to the Lajee Cultural Centre.

The venue is fully accessible.

This event is sponsored by the University and College Union (UC), National Education Union (NEU), Communication Workers Union (CWU), the Musicians Union (MU), Unison, Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) and Friends of Birzeit University (FOBZU).
